چکیده

C erebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) are cerebro-vascular disorders with an approximate prevalence of 1 in 200. The CCM pathology is typified by abnormally dilated clusters of blood vessels with defective endothelial cell–cell junctions, sluggish blood flow, and almost always associated with hemosiderin deposition in the surrounding paren-chyma.

Letter by Filippidis et al regarding article, "Evaluating strategies for the treatment of cerebral cavernous malformations".

Cerebral cavernous malformations are common vascular lesions of the central nervous system that predispose to seizures, focal neurological deficits, and potentially fatal hemorrhagic stroke. Human genetic studies have identified 3 genes associated with the disease, and biochemical studies of these proteins have identified interaction partners and possible signaling pathways. A recurring theme d...

Simultaneous and sequential hemorrhage of multiple cerebral cavernous malformations: a case report

BACKGROUND The etiology of cerebral cavernous malformation hemorrhage is not well understood. Causative physiologic parameters preceding hemorrhagic cavernous malformation events are often not reported. We present a case of an individual with sequential simultaneous hemorrhages in multiple cerebral cavernous malformations with a new onset diagnosis of hypertension. CASE PRESENTATION A 42-year...

An in vivo arteriovenous malformation model in swine: preliminary feasibility and natural history study.

PURPOSE To assess the feasibility, natural history, and preliminary physiologic validation of creating an in vivo arteriovenous malformation model in swine. METHODS A transorbital puncture technique into the cavernous sinus was used to create an arteriovenous communication between the rostral rete and the cavernous sinus in eight swine. Short-term patency and hemodynamic behavior were assesse...

Simulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy

Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...
